Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Stranded knitting

Pattern Description:

Stranded colourwork mittens in a modern geometric design. Matching 'Trigonal Hat' pattern also available.

Gauge:

18 sts and 22 rows = 5 cm / 2" in stockinette stitch worked in the round (knit every row) using size 3.0 mm / US 2.5 needles. Gauge swatch was washed, blocked and dried before measuring.

19 sts and 20 rows = 5 cm / 2" in stranded colourwork in chart pattern, worked in the round (knit every row), using size 3.0 mm / US 2.5 needles. Gauge swatch was washed, blocked and dried before measuring.

Please check your gauge to ensure the best results.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Length = 23 cm / 9" (Actual size)
  • Palm circumference = 18 cm / 7" (Actual size)

Materials:

  • Size 2.5 mm (US 1.5): set of 5 double pointed needles OR long length circular needle for Magic Loop method if preferred
  • Size 3.0 mm / (approx US 2.5): set of 5 double pointed needles OR long length circular needle for Magic Loop method if preferred
  • Approx 46 m / 50 yd of each contrast colour in a fingering weight yarn of your choice
  • Approx 81 m / 89 yd of main colour in a fingering weight yarn of your choice
  • Suggested yarn: Holst Garn Supersoft 100% uld (approx 575 m / 629 yd per 100g / 3.5 oz) 1 x 25g ball each in Allium (CC1), Calypso (CC2) and Aquamarine (CC3) 1 x 50g ball in Lather (MC)
  • NB: if you intend to make the matching hat (Trigonal Hat) you will have enough yarn remaining (after completing the mittens) from the 25g balls of the contrast colours and from the 50g ball of the main colour to complete the hat.
