Pattern Description:
So many ways to wear this tam.
I wear mine like a golf cap; but you can put a point in front for drama, or over the ears for a brim that shades from the sun and rain.
Because it's felted, it's water-repellant.
Because it's unusual, it always attracts attention.
Gauge:
You determine the gauge needed for sizing the brim as you knit this hat from the center down.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Sized to fit as you knit.
Materials:
- 150 yds. of a painted yarn that will felt for the foreground color; worsted weight recommended.
- 150 yds. of a plain colored yarn that DOESN'T MATCH A COLOR IN THE PAINTED YARN that will felt; either the same or a lighter weight then the painted yarn.
- 1 set of 4 double pointed needles that match the weight of the yarn; longer needles work best. I use 12" needles, but these are difficult to find now.
- 16" circular needle, the same size as the double-pointed needles if your double points are less then 10" long.
- Crochet hook the same size as the knitting needles.
- One knitting needle three sizes larger then the double-pointed needles for the bind-off.
- Stitch markers
- Darning needle
