Pattern Description:

Welcome back one of my first designs: Molly the train!
This time on a lovely train fair isle beanie.
There are many color changes but at most two colors in one round.
Therefore it is a more challenging fair isle project but really worth it!

I did a corrugated ribbing to resemble the railroad tracks and it is also used as small border pattern between the trains.
The colorful train pattern consists of tiny railway engines with two waggons and are repeated over the whole beanie, the steam clouds puffing off the engine.

At the top is the blue sky with some tiny clouds and the sun is shining at the top.

I was inspired by a toy spinning top with a tiny train in it.
I hope you enjoy knitting and wearing this fun beanie as much as I did drafting it.

Note: you can use 4-ply sock yarns of other brands and also Acrylic yarn of similar weight.

Gauge:

Knitting gauge in stranded pattern: 1 x 1 inch: 8 stitches and 9 rows .

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

This beanie will fit a head circumreference of about 52 " 55 cm (depending on your gauge and needle size).
For bigger sizes use bigger needle size or/and 5-ply yarn

Materials:

about 20 g 4-ply sock yarn in off-white or white
about 15 g of 4-ply sock yarn in black
about 15 g of 4-ply sock yarn in brown
about 10 g of 4-ply sock yarn in grass green
about 10 g of 4-ply sock yarn in grey
about 10 g of 4-ply sock yarn in red
about 15 g of 4-ply sock yarn in yellow
about 15 g of 4-ply sock yarn in sky blue
about 10 g of 4-ply sock yarn in midnight blue
circular needle size 3.00 mm for the ribbing
circular needle size 3.5 mm for the body
a set of double pointed 3.00 mm needles for the top of the hat

230 yards of Fingering weight
