Basic Skills Necessary:

  • M1: make one by inserting the left needle from front to back into the horizontal strand between the last stitch worked and the first stitch on the left needle. Knit the stitch from the back loop. (Vogue Knitting, 1989, p. 37) K: knit P: purl Yo: yarn over K3tog: k3 stitches together K3tog tbl: k3 stitches together through the back loop Sm: slip marker Pm: place marker Sts: stitches K2tog tbl: knit two stitches together through the back loop

Pattern Description:

The Shenandoah is a half-circle shaped shawl with a leaf border and garter stitch edging. This is a great project for a beginner. Simple stockinette stitch, M1 (make one) increases and an easy to memorize lace stitch.

Gauge:

24 sts = 4" in stockinette stitch (unblocked)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 41inches X17inches

Materials:

  • Becoming Art [Hand dyed on Agave fingering; 440 yd/4oz skein]; color: Harvest Moon; 1 skein
  • 40" length US1 /2.5mm circular needle
