Pattern Description:

I designed this beanie while living and working way far north in a remote camp on the tundra. the landscape and wind reminded me of antarctica, which is a landscape I have spent time in, working and living as well.
This pattern will be in a book of Antarctic hat patterns to be published in 2014.
This tasseled beanie starts at the back and knits sideways around the head forming the tassels along the way. You can choose 1 main color or 2 or more.


20 sts = 4"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 22" circumference


  • Plymouth Select - 100% machine washable merino, 100g/218yd
  • 1 skein of yarn A - CC (contrasting color of tassels and lines).
  • 1 skein of yarn B - MC (main color).
  • needles size US 5 - 7, depending on gauge.

You Will Also Need:

  • tapestry needle
  • 2 buttons

Suggested yarn:

218 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Plymouth machine washable merino
