Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, increase, decrease, and I-cord edging, provisional cast on

Pattern Description:

Simple top down hat is worked in the round with increases and decreases to form a clever swirl pattern around the brim. Icord edging provides a simple but cute edge that prevents rolling.

Gauge:

6 stitches & 7 rows in stockinette stitch = 1 inch 2.5cm

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Baby/child, adult- 16 (20) inches 40 (50)cm around head
  • Finished Size 16 (20) inches around, 6.5 (9) inches high

Materials:

  • sock yarn

  • Size US3 (3.25mm) double pointed needles or size to get gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch Markers
  • Adult size only: 16 inch size US3 (3.25mm) circular needle
