Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cast-on, bind-off, knit, purl, short-rows

Pattern Description:

Subconscious is a shawl in which short-rows alternately spill off of and meet up with each other, evoking branches, zippers, braids, and zebras.

Gauge:

20 stitches by 35 rows = 4" squared in stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 7' long and 12" deep

Materials:

  • 2 skeins of fingering-weight yarn in complimentary colors
  • US #6 20" circular needles or long straights

You Will Also Need:

  • 8 markers, 4 of each in two colors

Suggested yarn:

800 yards of Fingering weight
