Shawl

Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, m1, yo, p2tog

Pattern Description:

This V-shaped shawl is not difficult to knit, but it will keep your attention!

The 2-row stitch pattern is adapted from Barbara Walker's Charted Knitting Designs. The shawl needs no edging, unless you desire one - as knit, it is non-curling.

In this lovely alpaca yarn, it is a luscious coverup for cool spring days and summer evenings. It is sampled in Kraemer Yarns Alpaca, a 100% North American alpaca yarn, in a DK wt.

Note: Kraemer Yarns has improved their lovely domestically-sourced and produced alpaca yarn by adding 30% merino wool, so it is now 70% alpaca/30% merino wool.

Gauge:

17 sts and 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st and 16 sts and 22 rows = 4" over lace patt (unstretched and unblocked) with size 8 ndls or size to give gauge.

Note: This is a looser St st gauge than I would use for a garment (the ndl size is 2-3 sizes larger).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Unblocked Width x Length: approx 27" x 38"
  • Blocked Width x Length: approx 29" x 54"

Materials:

  • Yarns: Kraemer Yarns Alpaca, 100% North American alpaca, approx. 220 yd / 100 gr skein: 2 skeins #Y1901 Natural or color of your choice
  • US size 8 (5 mm) ndls

You Will Also Need:

  • Sharp sewing ndl, rustproof pins
