(6) Name: 'Knitting : Sothia

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl
  • k2tog, yo
  • knit through back loop (ktbl)
  • lifted increases - a photo tutorial is included in the pattern

Pattern Description:

Enjoy relaxing with Sothia's easy stitches knit from airy, fingering-weight yarn in a wide, shallow triangle shape. Two-tone or solid textural garter stitch stripes are defined by a neat eyelet border and deep, ribbed ruffle.

The ruffle portion is about half of the total knitting time for the shawl, and it's lush depth provides exquisite drape and an easy flow around the shoulders.

Pattern includes written directions, plentiful tips and photo-tutorials to make the knitting a breeze.


24 sts = 4" in stockinette st with US #6 / 4
mm needles, after blocking

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approximately 60" w (along blocked top edge) x approx. 20" h (along center spine from top edge to bottom point)


  • Solid version - approx. 800 yds. fingering weight yarn
  • Striped version - approx. 750 yds. fingering weight yarn in main color, & approx. 260 yds. fingering weight yarn in contrast color
  • US #5-6/ 3.75-4 mm (or size to acheive gauge) circular needle, approx. 32" long or longer
