Pattern Description:

The second in our Graduating Stripes Series, this semi-circular shawl is created with contrasting stripes reminiscent of sonar waves. Similar to Diffraction, but so very different.

Worked from the top down in stockinette and edged with attached I-Cord. Directions are written and stripe patterns are charted.

Perfect for solid, variegated and color changing yarns.

Directions included for Lace, Fingering & Aran weight.

Lace - MC 500 yds, CC 400 yds
Fingering - MC 450 yds, CC 200 yds
Aran - MC 350 yds, CC 175 yds


Per 4" (10cm) in blocked stockinette stitch.
Lace: 18.5 stitches & 33 rows
Fingering: 16 stitches & 20 rows
Aran: 14 stitches & 17 rows

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Blocked measurements: 54 x 27 in., (137 x 68 cm)


  • Needles: US 3 (5, 9) (3.25 (3.75, 5.5) mm) 42" (109 cm) circular needle(s); or size required to obtain gauge
  • Needles: US 7 (8, 11) (4.5 (5, 8) mm) needle for I-Cord Bindoff

You Will Also Need:

  • 6 Stitch Markers
  • Tapestry Needle

Suggested yarn:

650 yards of Fingering weight
