Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Stranded colorwork (Fair Isle) knitting

Pattern Description:

Sweet little kittens sit among winter's fluffy snowflakes. These mittens were inspired by a photo of a pair of socks for sale in Russia. The thumb gussets are on the sides and the hand decreases are swirled which gives you mittens that can be worn on either hand. What a lovely gift for your favorite toddler!


8 sts = 1" over stranded color work knitting

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Toddler 2-4 (hand = 2 1/2 w x 4" h)


  • 80yds background color and 30yds contrast color fingering or sock weight wool yarn Set US Size 1 1/2 (2.50) double point needles or size needed to obtain gauge 2 stitch markers small amount of smooth waste yarn

Suggested yarn:

80 yards of Fingering weight
