Snowbound Mittens

from Hickory Stix Knit & Crochet
(6) Name: 'Knitting : Snowbound Mittens
Snowbound Mittens Snowbound Mittens - Stretchy!
Snowbound Mittens Cables continue up the thumb!

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit with DPNs
  • Ribbing
  • Color Stranding
  • Increases & Decreases

Pattern Description:

Snowbound Mittens are designed for warmth and mobility. The textured, ribbed pattern fits snugly yet has lots of flexibility. Combined with the not-too-thick, but draft-free qualities, these mittens are beautiful and useful.

The ribbing allows the mitten to fit most hands. For very large hands, an additional repeat could easily be added to the width, the length of the hand and the thumb.

The example shown was knitted with 3 strands of a laceweight yarn - the yarn was begging for a project - but was originally designed in a worsted weight wool.

Charts included.
