Basic Skills Necessary:

  • some experience with two-color stranded knitting

Pattern Description:

This beanie will put a smile on your face anywhere you go ;-)
Cute fast-to-knit smiley beanie in black and yellow.
One of the smileys is winking.

The beanie has a corrugated matching ribbing.
You can also change the color of the smileys in each band and use your leftover 4-ply sock yarn, then you get a very colorful stashbuster beanie.

Note: for bigger heads use bigger needle size or 5-ply yarn or both!

Knitting gauge: 1 x 1 inch: 8 stitches and 9 rows in stranded knitting.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • This beanie fits size S and M. (up to 56 cm head circumreference)


  • about 40 g of black 4-ply sock yarn
  • about 40 g of yellow 4-ply sock yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • Circular needle 40 cm 3.00 mm
  • For bigger heads use needle size 3.25 mm or 3.5 mm
  • 5 double pointed needles size 3.00 mm for the top of the head
  • tapestry needle to weave in the ends

Suggested yarn:

230 yards of Fingering weight
