Pattern Description:

Simnia Mitts includes the patterns for matching: blanket, hat, and booties making this series of patterns ideal to create gifts for a new baby.
Simnia Mitts are also available as part of Simnia Layette.

Each item in this set has a patterning reminiscent of sea shells. It is a repeat of six stitches and is easy to memorise. Each item is seamless for baby's comfort.

The mitts are worked from the cuff up. The top of the mitt is joined with either: Kitchener stitch, 3-needle bind off, or seamed.


22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • One size up to approx 12 months


  • 65 yds DK yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • 4 mm (US 6) needles (circular or DPNs)
  • 3.25 mm (US 3) needles (circular or DPNs)
  • Ribbon (optional) - about 1 cm/1/2 inch wide, 70cm/28" long

Suggested yarn:

65 yards of DK weight
