Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Cast On
  • P2TOG
  • Yarn Over

Pattern Description:

Errata 7/12/14

Row 13 should read as follows with the changes in bold:

Row 13: * KNOT, k3 rep from * to last 3 sts,
k2, KFB. (1st increased, 40 sts)

Ahoy, matey!!
This shawl is perfect for all landlubbers! It's
a quick knit, easy to follow, and takes just
one skein of Shibui Linen. It's perfect as a
traveling project or a quick gift. Differently
patterned sections will keep your interest
and will speed you along through this shawl.
The asymmetrical shape might give you the
illusion you've enjoyed a little too much
grog...but worry not. It's by design!!


16 sts & 20 rows = 4" in unblocked Garter Stitch on size US 9 needle or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge is important in this project to ensure the correct amount of yardage.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 47"x47"x26" AFTER BLOCKING


  • Size US 9 24" circular needle
  • 1 skein Shibui Linen (246 yards)

  • Tapestry needle
