Basic Skills Necessary:

  • do stranded knitting in the round with at most two colors
  • weave in new yarn and yarn tails during knitting will be of advantage but is not required

Pattern Description:

This flock of sheep will keep your hands warm on cold days!

Measurement: width 10 cm (about 20 cms hand circumreference)
These mitts fit size S/M.

Note: for bigger hands use bigger needle size.

It's easier to knit than you may think: there are at most two colors in one round!

You can also use green multicolor yarn for the meadow (as I did)

Knitting gauge: 8 stitches and 9 rows in 1 x 1 inch.
in stranded knitting.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Measurement: width 10 cm (about 20 cms hand circumreference)
  • For bigger sizes go up one or two needle size and/or use 5-ply yarn or both


  • 35 g of black 4-ply sock yarn, 40 g of grass green 4-ply sock yarn (I used Schoeller & Stahl Fortissima Socka Color in green), 30 g of off-white 4-ply sock yarn
  • 5 double pointed needles size 3.0 mm.
  • 1 circular needle of 3.0 mms for parking the thumb stitches.

You Will Also Need:

  • tapestry needle to weave in the ends

Suggested yarn:

230 yards of Fingering weight


green, black, off-white
