Pattern Description:

Shallows is all about lace, beads, and contrasting textures. It can be knit either as a scarf or cowl; for the the cowl the beginning and ending edges are grafted.

The scarf version requires 102 #6 seed beads, the cowl 96. The pattern provides instructions for placing beads using the crochet hook method. You can omit the beads if you likejust knit the stitch instead of placing a bead on it.

Stitch pattern instructions are given in both written form and a chart.

Gauge:

24 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

Cowl: 7 inches/18 cm wide by 52 inches/132 cm long Scarf: 7 inches/18 cm wide by 54 inches/137 cm long

350 yards/320m fingering weight yarn
US 4/3.5mm knitting needles
96 (for cowl) or 102 (for scarf) no. 6 seed beads
crochet hook small enough to fit through bead for placing beads
