Just finished the left glove. It looks amazing. I will say this pattern was challenging, but I feel like I have really grown in my knitting skills. Thanks to momofnine57 for your assistance in this. It really made the difference and gave me the confidence to continue.
I am no expert at DPN's so I got my pattern onto an 8" size 4 circular needle ASAP. This was much easier for me to handle. These mitts are turning out beautiful
I find this pattern a little confusing but so far I've managed to get through the Left Mitt Thumb Gusset Shaping. Yea!! Now, moving on to Divide Thumb Stitches - 'place next 13 stitches onto stitch holder'. The problem is I have 15 stitches between the markers, not 13. What is my problem/solution? Thanks for any help
If you have 15 stitches instead of 13, just knit two stitches together at two different places which will decrease your number count back down to 13.
Thank you for your help. One other questin, did I follow the pattern incorrectly?
Oops! Nevermind, I understand how to work it now. I just needed to read the pattern a little further. Thanks again for your help
You're very welcome :-) I am not associated with Craftsy...just a satisfied member :D
I really don't understand the directions on this at all. The first instruction states Knit 7 rounds and the next line reads Work Rounds 13 of Eyelet Pattern 15 times. Can someone tell me what this person means by a "round" Is that a row? I can't get past the first instruction! Makes no sense...
Lee..first sorry I haven't been online and didn't see your problem earlier. I can tell by your question you've mis-read what the directions say.The glove is knit IN THE ROUND...whether you are using double pointed needles or circulars, hence there are no "rows" per se. When they refer to a round, it would be the same as your row. The beginning of your round is the beginning of a new "row". Place a stitch marker at the beginning of your round, it will help.Next when you quote "Work Rounds 13 of Eyelet Pattern..." that is NOT 13..it is 1-3...there are 3 rows that make the Eyelet Pattern. The 3 rows are explained separately above the general body of directions. Hope this helps
This totally helps. I'm able to read the pattern MUCH easier now. Thank you so much!
This is a wonderful knit!! I started on September 27 and finished October 14. My daughter in Denver will love these for Christmas!! No problems with pattern at all.
I think I will scrap this project as well. It sounds as if others have had trouble and the directions are confusing. Send some help Craftsy!
I'm not employed by Craftsy at all but am willing to help if I can. Did you already scrap the project?
No, didnt scrap it but just put it aside. Maybe I'll get back to it soon. Thanks for offering to help. I may enlist your help soon!
Hey..anytime :) i'll just have to remember to check in more often :D
I was going to start this project next, but based on the comments below, that does not sound like a good idea. Maybe I will just use the yarn I got on another similar project instead. Hopefully Craftsy can give some insight to this pattern.
I ran out of the recommended amount of yarn that was sent with my order on the second glove just above the thumb. Also I think there are a couple of errors in the directions that made it a bit confusing at times. One example: I knit the left mitt first (as per directions) - there was no indication that the palm of the mitt was to be stockinette stitch without the eyelet pattern running through it. When I got to the right mitt, I noticed that on the Shape Thumb Gusset: after pm it states K16 (which would make the palm...). This K16 was not included in the left mitt instructions under thumb gusset shaping. Also under Divide Thumb Stitches: after putting 13 stitches onto the holder, I believe it should include K1 before remove marker. I love the mitts and am sorry that enough yarn was not supplied. I will have to order another skein to finish the second mitt.
your gauge must've been off ...I had yarn leftover
I need some clarification for the instructions for the thumb gusset. When the pattern states "repeat last 2 rounds 5 more times" do I also continue with the 3 row eyelet pattern? The directions are not clear to me. I'm not sure how to count.
yes...the thumb gusset is the increasing rounds for the thumb only...continue in the eyelet pattern as the picture shows. It always helps to look at the picture and compare the written instructions with what you see. Visualizing what it should look like is always what I do. Good luck if you haven't already dumped it like the others sadly have done. It's a great knit!
I have never knitted in the round or used DPN's. Can you please give me more information on how to/whether to space the stitches on 3 DPN's and use the fourth to knit with? Thank you.
is there a suggestion on how to space out the stitches on the needles or if i should use 4 DPNs instead of 3? the final repeat of the pattern ends at the very end of the 3rd needle which is making an unsightly gap...i've made it into the 3rd repeat of the pattern 3 diff times trying to make sure i wasnt making a mistake in the pattern but each time i end up with an awkward gap in the repeat on the last pattern set of stitches. HELP!!!
I USED 4 DPNS. I am no expert though - I am now on the row in the thumb shaping that says Work 1 round even as established. I have no clue what that means.
i'm so glad that i'm not the only person having trouble with this pattern and how its written.
