Basic Skills Necessary:

  • long tail cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, ribbing, placing stitch marker, tassel making, decrease, bind off, sew seam, weave in ends

Pattern Description:

Lovely, easy-to-knit hood perfect for fresh, crisp walks in the woods in all weather. The garment features a peaked hood with tassel and includes hand sewing to attach the toggle closure at the front. One size.


12 stitches per 4" (10cm) in width and 16 rows per 4" (10cm) in height

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • One size
  • Your finished hood should be about 54" (137cm) in length and about 12" (30cm) in width.


  • US 11 (8.0mm) 47" / 120cm circular needles
  • Large crochet hook, US J / 10 (8.0mm)
  • Bernat Roving (360 yards / 330 metres; 3.5oz / 100g), 3 skeins in Clover colourway; or
  • Garnstudio DROPS Eskimo (324 yards / 294 metres; 1.8oz / 50g), 6 skeins in Green Yellow colourway; or
  • Substitute yarn that meets gauge requirements

  • Tape measure
  • Sewing needle
