Pattern Description:
Inspired by an 1870's counterpane pattern, this nearly-circular shawlette combines tailored details with a feminine sensibility. Rise to the challenge of the initial cast-on and you'll be rewarded with an easy decreasing rib pattern that simultaneously eliminates stitches and the need for seaming. The interplay of delicate eyelets and bold angular ribbed decreases add drama to the clean lines of this go-anywhere piece.
Gauge:
6.5 sts/in and 6.25 rows/in = 26 sts/4" and 25 rows/4" in Rib
9 sts/in and 8 rows/in = 36 sts/4" and 32 rows/4" in Cable Rib on size 2(2.75mm) ndls for neck trim

My love is knitting, not sewing, so I design so that as much as possible is done on the knitting needles with sewing only as absolutely necessary. This isn't necessarily a shortcut, but I think it works really well for those who don't love the finishing process.
