Rushmore Cowl is knit in the round in one piece. It's unique texture is created by staggered pleating of horizontal purl stitch bands. The purl stitches can be further emphasized by working them in a contrast color, but the design is effective in either one or two colors. The pleats make Rushmore warm and cozy and, as one tester described it, "the pleating is addictive!"
This is a quick and easy knit, and it is easily managed by an advanced beginner. The actual knitting is simply stripes of stockinette and reverse stockinette. The pleating is what makes the design. The pattern contains a photo tutorial that clearly explains the procedure for creating pleats. Pattern is easily modified into a longer infinity cowl, a flat scarf or, by removing one pattern repeat, a cowl with a circumference 20.5 inches.

I have been knitting, designing and surrounding myself with yarn for more years than I care to admit. More recently I made the decision to formally publish my designs. In my day job, I run the online yarn shop Whitknits.com.
