I saw this yarn at my LYS and thought that I had to make a shawl using garter stitch. The rest flowed from there. This is a top down shawl with two cast on options: either a garter tab cast on for more advanced knitters or an ordinary cast on for beginners to lace.
The pattern is both written and charted and it provides a stitch count chart at the end to keep track of rows; the stitch count chart provides the number of stitches between each stitch marker as well. Additionally a number of points are noted where the knitter can start the edging so that yarn usage can be maximized. Approximately 65% of yarn is needed for edging.
The pattern has been test knitted and tech edited.
21 stitches and 36 rows = 4 inches in Garter stitch (blocked)
I live in NYC and love all the crafterly adventures afforded in this great city. I have traveled the world and find knitting gets me through long transport waits. Knitting also makes a great conversation topic; people always feel they can start chatting with the person knitting.
