Thick and warm socklets to keep your feet toasty. The stitch pattern is reminiscent of the distinct pinnate leaves of the Rowan tree. Rowan trees display the most vibrant autumn colours, and the name Rowan is thought to come from the proto-Germanic word raudnian, which means "getting red". What better name for a pair of socklets that will keep you warm on those chilly autumn evenings!
The sizes are Women's S, M and L, to fit feet with circumference of about 18, 20.5 and 23cm / 7 1/8, 8 and 9". The length of the footsies can be adjusted in all three sizes, as described in pattern.
The yarn should be a true aran weight. A worsted-weight may knit to the wrong pattern tension, even if the stocking stitch tension works out right. This would result in the finished footsies being too small. However, if you have a worsted-yarn that you would really like to use, you could knit a larger size to achieve the right fit.
The yardage given given under Materials is rounded up to full Wendy Traditional Aran skeins.
The pattern is part written, part charted - you will need to be able to work with both styles.
17 sts, 24 rows = 10x10 cm / 4x4" in stocking stitch

I just love knitting gloves: once you get to the fingers there are so few stitches per round, that another finger is finished in what seems no time at all - giving you a constant sense of achievement!
My knitting patterns provide very detailed instructions. Apart from the very few designs in which the two gloves/mittens are knitted exactly identical, my patterns always include instructions for both the right and the left hand glove/mitten - no struggle over creating a mirror image of the first glove! All the thinking has been done for you!
