Hello, I'm Anne Kuo Lukito. I'm a hand-knitting designer and my works have been published in many books and top magazines, such as Knitty, Interweave Knits, Knitscene and Twist Collective,. I've also contributed designs to and worked with several yarn companies. Recently, I designed the Fall Collection for Manos del Uruguay yarns.
While knitting is my dominant craft now, I've always been a crafter and sewer. I used to make my own clothes in high school and made jewelry. Two years ago, I got a bit into silversmithing as well.
Aside from freelance design work, I am also have a couple of publishing projects coming down the pike. I also have a small boutique business, Crafty Diversions (craftydiversions.com), which distributes other designers' patterns and products to yarn shops and retailers.
I love the city of Amsterdam. It has a wonderful mix of a bohemian and contemporary vibe and is full of history, art and beauty. In this design, I attempted to capture some of that spirit.
This slouchy beret is worked top-down from the crown and features a relatively simple lace motif that reminds me of some of the beautiful flora I saw in the Netherlands. Pattern includes both charted and written instructions.
Pattern was originally published in Interweave Knits, Spring 2010.
(Sample shown worked in size S/M using Zitron Ecco (100% superwash extrafine merino wool; 120 yds/ 50 g, color #128 blue, 2 balls.)
