Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic lace stitches (yarnover, k2tog, ssk)
  • knit
  • purl
  • chart-reading

Pattern Description:

In the tradition of Fellowship! the Shawl, here comes another half-circle shawl inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, this time following the character progression and journey of a single member of that fellowship, Frodo Baggins.

There will be eight separate clues, to be released throughout the month of September. The first clue is available now, to give you a taste of what's to come. Each clue will have descriptive tie-ins that trace my inspiration from story to stitches. The knit-a-long part will be conducted in this thread in the Lord of the Rings group.

It would behoove you to have at least some previous lacework experience, but it isn't necessary. There are two options for the shawl border: one is more traditional and accessible to beginners and the other is somewhat innovative and advanced.
