Pattern Description:

This beanie pattern was inspired by the coming Oktoberfest and other Bavarian festivals.
It uses the two-color cast-on for which I included a picture tutorial.
The beanie has a lovely two-colored ribbing, a tiny Bavarian like peerie pattern in blue and white and an allover Pretzel pattern. At the top is a Edelweiss-like star in blue and white.

As the pattern has at most two colors in one round and is easy to remember it is also suitable for stranded knitting beginners.

Note: for the cast-on you need 2.75 mm needle size and for the top a set of double pointed needles size 3.00 mm.

Gauge:

1 x 1 inch: 8 stitches and 9 rows

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

about 53 " 55 cm head circumreference

Materials:

about 30 g 4-ply sock yarn in light blue
about 20 g 4-ply sock yarn in medium blue
about 20 g 4-ply sock yarn in off-white or white
about 20 g 4-ply sock yarn in brown

You Will Also Need:

Circular needle 40 cm 3.5 mm and 2.75 mm
5 double pointed needles size 3.00 mm for the top of the head
Tapestry needle to weave in the ends

Suggested yarn:

229 yards of Fingering weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Opal uni solid or Wollbutt sckli or Regia
