Skill Level:

intermediate skill level requirement Advanced

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • follow directions closely, work in the round on circular needle, knit, purl, stockinette stitch, slip stitches, using markers, purl two sts together and ssk decreases, pick up sts knitwise and purlwise, bind off

Pattern Description:

Entrelac knitting resembles complicated woven basketry, but is actually an intermediate level technique. If you can knit stockinette and pick up stitches, you can do entrelac!

Entrelac is even more impressive when worked in a variegated yarn with long color changes, such as Noro Kureyon. Color changes occur in the length of a round, so blocks above and below appear as contrasting colors, heightening the woven effect. If you choose to work with a solid yarn the three-dimensional effect of entrelac knitting will pop.
