Pattern Description:

I love owls, they're so dang cute and wanted to design a pattern for mittens that had owls on them. I also just learned how to make a Latvian Braid and wanted to incorporate that detail. Here's what I came up with.

Bonus- I have also included with the pattern a 2 page tutorial/ pictorial mini class on how to knit a Latvian Braid. Make a cute pair of mittens and learn a new skill all for the price of one pattern.

Suggested Yarns:
Malabrigo Yarn Silky Merino,
Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light
or Manos del Uruguay Rittenhouse Merino 5-Ply

Gauge:

29 stitches = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

Sizing given for 4 different sizes of mittens for women.

Materials:

3 skeins of sport weight yarn. 2 in main color and 1 in contrasting color. Yarn size 50gms= ~144yards
I like- Malabrigo Yarn Silky Merino, Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light or Manos del Uruguay Rittenhouse Merino 5-Ply

You Will Also Need:

a darning needle to weave in ends
size 1, 2 or size 3 circular knitting needle 32" long or a set of size 1, 2 or 3 double pointed needles
The smaller the needle the smaller the mitten!
