The shape of the Olena hat was loosely inspired by a hat designed by fellow Canadian designer Olena Zylak. Yet the fabric is an original by Twiss & Weber.
The combination of shape and fabric elements creates an elegant and warm hat for our Canadian winters. The hat is knit flat in garter stitch and then a slanted rib lace is created for the toque. A short amount of basting is required for the gathering, but it is worth the effort! This style is rated Easy skill level.
20 sts and 28 rows makes 4x4"/10x10cm in garter stitch on needles to obtain gauge. Please take the time to check your gauge.

New knitters will adore the fashionable projects and will be encouraged to learn more about their craft. While seasoned knitters will love the original attitude, the time-saving methods and concise language. Twiss & Weber think knitters shouldn’t need to understand complicated jargon in order to create gorgeous things, this has been their goal all-along.
