This asymmetric shawl is worked from the top down. Increases are worked every RS row on either side of the center stitch while decreases are worked on the sides, forming a "v" shape. A single extra decrease is worked at the beginning of every wrong side row.
This is a good pattern for the newer knitter who wants to stretch just a little. The pattern is written as opposed to charted.
