Pattern Description:

These Fana socks, in four sizes, are inspired by the 19th century Norwegian cardigan from the Fana region near Bergen. The construction of these socks includes a two-color, three strand cast-on, the classic Star, Checkerboard, and Dotted Band motifs of the Fana Cardigan, a color patterned stockinette stitch heel, and a Round Heel and Toe shaping.

Gauge:

In 2-color Dotted Band pattern, stockinette stitch: 8 stitches/inch, 10 rounds/ inch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

Circumference of sock leg: Small (6"), Medium (7.5"), Large (9"), Extra Large (10.5") Check the schematic at the end of this pattern to determine the dimensions of the garment you are knitting, in case you need to make adjustments.

Materials:

Yarn: sport weight wool (246 yards/100 gram skein) or try sock yarn for a lighter-weight sock: 1 (1,1,2) skeins of Main Color yarn (darker yarn) 1 skein of Contrasting Color yarn (lighter yarn)
Needles: U.S. sizes 0 and 2 (2.0 and 2.75 mm) dp needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
