  • magic loop or dpns
  • basic lace stitch knowledge - yarn over, k2tog/p3 tog

Pattern Description:

I was after a hat last summer that would be nice for camping, but not too warm. I liked the idea of doing something lacy, but the yarn I had was dk wool. It had been sat in my stash box for a couple of years and I kept squishing it, wondering what the right project was! I think this design suits the yarn really well, I love the slight colour change you can see in the dye in certain lights.

There is also a matching pattern for fingerless mitts, and a cowl. If you go to my library there is a discount on the set. Enjoy!

Gauge:

Size and Gauge:

As each size is knitted on different size needles, please ensure that you obtain the correct gauge for the size required in order to acheive the correct fit. All gauges are per 10cm/4" in stocking stitch knit flat.

Small:
28 sts and 40 rows on 3.5mm (US4) needles
Medium:
25 sts and 39 rows on 4mm (US5) needles
Large:
23sts and 35 rows on 4.5 (US6)needles

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Small (Approx 53-56cm/21-22.5")
  • Medium (Approx 57-59cm/22.5-23.5")
  • Large (Approx 60-62cm/23.5-24.4")

Materials:

  • 1 x 270m/300yd 3.5oz/100g Skein Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend Colour 2444, or similar DK weight yarn.
  • 1 x 3.5mm (US4) x 30cm circular needle or 5 x double pointed needles.
  • 1 x 3mm (US 3) x 30cm circular needle or dpns

Suggested yarn:

300 yards of DK weight
