Pattern Description:

Long blooming and beautiful is the Moth Orchid, from the
genus Phalaenopsis. This shawl was inspired by the color,
large round petals, and whimsy of moths in flight. Wrap yourself in orchids....
This is a crescent shaped shawl knit from the bottom up and shaped with short rows. The moth-like pattern is knit on both sides of the work and you may add beads if you like. You can knit this in a small, medium, or large size (with Diadem, 2skeins for small or medium and 3 for large size)

Gauge:

16sts x 32 rows = 4" blocked in stockinette, not crucial.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • small- 50" x 12"
  • medium- 70" x 15"
  • large- 88" x 18"

Materials:

  • needles: 4.7mm (US no. 7) and 3.5mm (US no. 4)

You Will Also Need:

  • 315/464/576 6/0 or 8/0 beads (optional
  • cable needle, helpfu
  • stith markers helpfu
  • extra yarn for lifelines (optional
  • darning needle to weave in ends

Suggested yarn:

650 yards of Fingering weight

knitpicks diadem Diadem, fingering, 50% baby alpaca, 50% mul- berry silk, 329 yards/100grams, 2/2/3 skeins .
