This is a generic garter stitch more than a triangle shaped shawl. This shape of shawl provides long tapered ends for ease of tying, even reaching to be fastened at the back of the waist in the Traditional Danish Style.
The shawl is constructed in a very simple garter stitch, that can only be enhanced by the choice of yarn used. Different fibres produce different effects, with pure wool making a warm and light comforting shawl, and a single skein of silk blend 4 ply making a lovely shawlette that could be used as a scarf.
This generic pattern is an ideal way to start tackling shawls and it provides a good basic knowledge of their construction.
