Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, decrease, increase, cables, short rows

Pattern Description:

This reversible cable and seed stitch scarf has pull-through slots, so no tying is necessary. The cowl buttons through the cable twists. Short-row shaping creates stylish diagonal ends.


Scarf: 21 sts and 30 rows = 4'' / 10 cm in Seed Stitch.
Cowl: 20 sts and 29 rows = 4'' / 10 cm in Seed Stitch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Scarf: 7'' (17.8 cm) wide and 53" (134.6 cm) long
  • Cowl: 7 3/4 " (19.5 cm) wide and 31" (78.5 cm) long


  • Scarf: US size 6 / 4 mm straight needles
  • Cowl: US size 7 / 4.5 mm straight needles

You Will Also Need:

  • Stitch holder, locking stitch markers in 2 colors (A and B), tapestry needle, 3 X 3/4 " buttons

Suggested yarn:

600 yards of Worsted weight
