Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Cast On
  • Knitting in the Round
  • Knit
  • Purl
  • Knitting through the back loop
  • Stranded colorwork

Pattern Description:

With stranded color work mimicking the Millstream Mitts this hat is worked in the round from the brim to the crown with just the right amount of slouch.

:: NOTES ::
One skein of the main color and one skein of the contrast color will be enough to work both the hat and mitts.

Gauge:

24 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 18in (46cm) brim, unstretched and 9.5in (24cm) from brim to crown. Stretches to fit an average 22in (56cm) head circumference.

Materials:

  • US 4 (3.5mm) 16in circular needle.
  • US 4 (3.5mm) set of 4 double pointed needles.
  • 1 stitch marker to denote beginning of round.
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
  • (2) 225 yard skeins of DK weight yarn in complimentary colors. Sample used Madelinetosh Tosh DK in colors Astrid Grey and Dr. Zhivago's Sky.

Suggested yarn:

450 yards of DK weight
