  • Instructions are written for a cuff-down sock. The pattern also features instructions for a cowl and infinity scarf. Charts are provided on the last page.

Pattern Description:

Ding dong merrily on high....
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream....

These socks and cowl define merrily. Easy, festive, lighthearted. With an easy-to-memorize 8-round repeat, these will merrily fly off the needles!


32 sts = 4" over st st for fingering size sock
28 sts = 4" over st st for sport size sock
~20 sts = 4" over st st for infinity/cowl

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 8" foot circumference; 5 1/2" - 6 1/4"" approximate leg length for socks
  • 12 1/2" wide and 8 1/2" long for cowl 24" wide and 8 1/2" long for infinity scarf


  • "~350 yards of fingering weight yarn such as Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock lightweight, Hazel Knits Artisan Sock, The Plucky Knitter Plucky Feet for fingering size
  • ~250 yards of sport weight yarn such as Miss Babs Yummy Superwash Sport, The Plucky Knitter Primo Sport, Malabrigo Arroyo Yarn for sport size
  • ~185 (300) yards of heavy worsted weight yarn, such as The Plucky Knitter Merino Alpaca Silk, The Fibre Company Terra, Kollge Yarns Solace
  • Size US 1.5 (2.5mm) or size to obtain gauge, either DPNs or circular needles for fingering size
  • US 2.5 (3.0mm) or size to obtain gauge, either DPNs or circular needles for sport size
  • Size US 7 (4.5mm) or size to obtain gauge, either DPNs or circular needles for cowl and infinity scarf
