Basic Skills Necessary:

  • ability to read a chart
  • provisional cast on
  • picking up stitches
  • k2tog
  • yo
  • place beads onto live stitches with a crochet hook

Pattern Description:

Mariposa Shawl is a feather and fan lace shawl worked in a delicate mohair blend yarn. It is worked in three sections creating a shape that drapes nicely over the shoulders. Beads are added into the border and picot bind off to add shine and weight.


20 sts/22 rows = 4" over Stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 43" wide and 16" long at the center back after blocking.


  • 370 yards laceweight yarn
  • 1 24" or longer US #6/4mm circular needle

You Will Also Need:

  • 3 stitch markers
  • crochet hook for provisional cast on
  • waste yarn for provisional cast on
  • steel crochet hook size 12 (for adding beads to knitting)
  • 275 size 6/0 seed beads
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • blocking wires and/or pins for wet blocking
