I wanted to do a one-skein project with SHELTER that was fun but fast & perfect for gift giving.
California has a slew of native lupines. One of my favorites in Lupinus chamissonis, or Silver Dune Lupine. It grows in sandy soil from Los Angeles to San Francisco. We have one in our front yard native garden.
Pattern Notes
The cuff is knitted first. The stitches for the body of the mittens are picked up along the long edge of the cuff.
Diagrams are included.
The main body is worked in simple stockinette with an offset thumb gusset formed by M1Rs and M1Ls.
Stitch patterns are both charted and written out line by line.
The cuff cable repeat is #28 from Aran Lace by Annie Maloney.

When I"m not designing, knitting, tech editing or working as a veterinarian, I garden (native plants and vegetables), hike, and beachcomb. I blog at www.sunsetcat.com, and am on Ravelry as Stephcat.
