My mother taught me the joy of knitting and sewing at a very young age, and I have enjoyed the benefits of knowing these skills for years. I have been raising boys from home and will soon have much more time to knit, and design. I am looking forward to continuing to create fun and enjoyable patterns for hand knitters of all skill levels. Enjoy these designs, but especially enjoy the journey, and sometimes the adventure :), in taking one of my designs from start to the finish!
The ruffled cuff uses a seed stitch that is sturdy to protect from the winter winds while adding a little whimsy, and fun to the mitt. The mitt was designed to protect from winter wind by hanging over the cuff of a coat sleeve. When I designed these it had been a while since I had knit mittens, so I chose a half mitt design with simple stockinette hand with thumbs that are knit the same for the right as for the left. It was a good primer before moving up to a full mitten, as well as being a perfect gift for the tech savvy youth of today! In this design fingers are still free to text, tweet and check facebook on the go.
18 sts x 24 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette stitch worked in the round. Please take time to check gauge to get the same pattern result. **Note: If you are not a tight knitter please consider the use of a US 6 or 7 (4.25-4.5mm) I used 8/5mm to get gauge.
