When I saw this beautiful tulip stitch I was compelled to design a cowl using it. I just had to do it. While searching for the perfect name I came across the Lisca tulip and was equally smitten. Please forgive me calling it that though the stitch does not have the flower's frilly edges. I am certain you will be able to find a garden of beautiful colors that this cowl could be knit from.
Cowl is knit in the round in garter stitch, which means that every other round is purled, except where needed to make the flowers and leaves stand out.
18 sts and 32 rows (16 garter ridges) to 4 inches in garter stitch, blocked.
395 yards of Fingering weight
I have knit and crocheted, and done various forms of embroidery and needlepoint since early grammar school. Making things with bits of colored string is so integral to my being that the few times of my life when I don't have *something* on the go feel empty, and without form.
