Basic Skills Necessary:

  • CO
  • knit
  • purl
  • YO
  • sk2p = slip one knit wise, k2tog, psso
  • BO

Pattern Description:

A simple lace scarf, great for beginning lace knitters.

Written and charted pattern with US and metric.

Easily modified for length, width or gauge.

Constructed as one piece, using a traditional arrowhead lace pattern, of 8 row/10 stitch repeats.

Needs Blocking.

Basic lace stitches: Knit, Purl, YO (yarn over), and SK2P (slip one knit wise, knit 2 together and pass the slipped stitch over the K2tog)

Scarf shown is 3 reps wide, but this is very easily modified for width.

Try it with various yarn thicknesses and needle sizes too - Arrowhead lace looks good tight or loose, fat or skinny - Have fun!

  • 6.5" by 49" after blocking


  • 125 yards (114 m) of fingering or sock yarn
  • Us sz 8 (5mm) needles

  • darning needle - to sew in ends
