Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round
  • cables

Pattern Description:

The idea for this cowl grew out of a hat I designed for Twisted's upcoming Hot Holiday Knits 2013. The hat was so pleasingly squishy, and the play of garter and cables so classically fun, I had to explore further.

16 stitches = 4"/10 cm in garter stitch (approximately 17 stitches = 4"/10 cm in stockinette stitch).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Single loop (double loop): 26 (56)"/66 (142) cm circumference. Both approximately 8"/20 cm tall.

  • 230 (485) yards/210 (443) meters worsted-weight yarn.
  • US #8/5mm (or size to get gauge) for knitting in the round, using your preferred circular knitting method (either two circulars, or magic loop, or one circular of length smaller than the circumference of the cowl).

You Will Also Need:

  • tapestry needle
  • cable needle

Suggested yarn:

485 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Quince & Co. Lark or Swans Island Natural Color Collection
