Janette (pronounced Janet) is worked from the top down. The brim is knitted on along the edge of the main hat, which elimates the need to cast off more than a few sts. Two brim options are available, the overlaped edge with a button or a simple edge that is joined end to end. Shown here in both a handspun and a commercially available worsted weight.
5.5 sts and 8 rows in 1 inch.
I started knitting to help me sanely get through the cold Alberta winters, and now I just can't stop! I love to knit and design using beautiful hand dyed yarns and prefer to support independant dyers. I share a blog with 3 designer friends at TAATdesigns.wordpress.com, tweet with them as TAATdesigns, and can be reached for pattern support at Trisha.TAATdesigns@gmail.com. I am Girlymom on Ravelry.
