knitting in the round, stranded knitting with two colors, reading a chart, and Kitchener stitch.
The hat for cat lovers. Inspired by cat motifs woven into border of the Incan textiles from Peru. Inca cat hat is a traditional colorwork pattern with a two colored ribbing. The cat motif and the wave pattern come from a garment panel dated between 1100- 1500 AD, while the pattern on the crown was loosely adapted from a poncho, circa 500-300 BC. The little animal, a mythical creature, in the narrow band is from a mantle fragment woven around 500 AD.
The pattern instructions are clear and easy to work with, taking all the stress out of knitting a colorwork hat. The pattern features detailed written instructions, photos, and complete charts.
