Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit, purl, decreases
  • Stranded knitting
  • Directions included for I-Cord cast on, and thumb gusset increases.
  • Kitchener stitch (4 stitches).
  • Knitting in the round.

Pattern Description:

A fun mitten including cats and cat paw motifs. Here Kitty, Kitty includes written instructions for Crochet Provisional Cast On, and I-Cord Cast On which creates an I-Cord around the bottom of the cuff.

Right and left-hand mittens are identical and a color chart is provided.

All my mitten patterns include other knitting tips in regard to yarn dominance, floats, decreases, and increases.

9 stitches and 10 rows per inch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Women's medium; 68 sts per round.
  • 97 rows cuff to tip. Thumb gusset begins on row 30 and ends after row 43.


  • Needle US 0 (2.0mm) 32" cable for Magic Loop or equivalent dpn's. Size to obtain gauge
  • Darning needle, 1 stitch holder, 12" waste yarn, 12" smooth waste yarn for provisional cast on (directions included), crochet hook in similar size to your knitting needles, 2 stitch markers.
  • Yarn: fingering weight. 150 yds of dark brown, 92 yds of natural, 92 yds of orange.
