Pattern Description:

My 6-year-old son designed this hat. He drew the schematic and told me, "This is the *form* of the hat, Mommy." I took it from there. Here he is wearing the result.

Details: Pdf written pattern (no charts); hat is worked flat and seamed, with a simple crochet slip stitch added to define the two halves.

Gauge:

17 sts and 13 rows per 4"/10 cm

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Four sizes included: from infant to large adult

Materials:

  • Yarn: Worsted weight in 2 colors, about 60 yards each
  • Shown in Cascade 220, 1 skein each of 2 colors
  • Large eyed needle for sewing up
  • Knitting needles: US 6/4 mm circular or straight; hat is worked flat
  • Knitting needles: US 5/3.75 mm circular or straight needles for brim.
  • US H/5 mm crochet hook

Suggested yarn:

110 yards of Worsted weight
