The Hagrid illusion knit is based on the character from the J.K.Rowling Harry Potter books.
Although the design shown is a shawl it could easily be changed to be a centre piece for an afghan or bedspread or as a panel on a wall hanging.
When you look straight at illusion knitting you only see stripes. The image appears when you look from the side. Illusions are notoriously difficult to photograph but are spectacular in real life. One of the photographs shows the view when looking directly onto the shawl.
The shawl is now on display at Ripley's Believe It or Not! in Baltimore, MD (May 2013)
September 2013 Update
The pattern now includes an extra chart intended for tablet users but others may find it helpful. You can view 20 ridges at a time and always be able to see the numbers across the bottom of the chart. Never lose your place again!
