Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit in the round, pick up and knit, strand

Pattern Description:

A Fine Snowboarding Hat - With a nod to "Late Night Geoff" in the optional earflaps (Craig Ferguson Fans Unite!) Two different earflap patterns included. Make 2 the same or make 2 different ones!
Extra warm if you line with a fleece cap.
The earflaps can be left as a single layer, or self lined for double thickness.
Make this hat your own by choosing which finishing extras you like!

Any worsted weight yarn will work in black, white and grey (or choose your own color scheme) with a few yards of red or pink for embroidering eyes on a couple of skulls and in the topper. Large child/small adult and adult sizes.

Use small alphabet beads to put a message to the wearer in the topper.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • large child/small adult, large adult


  • 340 to 390 yards worsted weight yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • size 7 24 inch circs and DPNs or size to obtain gauge
  • seam needle
  • stitch marker
  • thin polar fleece cap to line the hat (optional)
  • small alphabet beads for a message or name (optional)

Suggested yarn:

390 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

cascade 220 or knit picks wool of the andes worsted
