Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit
  • purl

Pattern Description:

This scarf is a great beginners project as it only uses the two basic stitches - knit and purl.

It is also suitable for more advanced knitters looking for an easy knit.

The pattern is written for 8ply (DK) yarns, however it could be easily adjusted for 10ply (Worsted Weight) yarns that use the same needle size for tension/gauge.

British knitting terms are used in the pattern, any American knitting terms that are different are supplied in the abbreviations section of the pattern.


4.5 stitches to 1 inch in pattern

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 20 cm (8") wide x 180 cm (72") long - after blocking


  • 200-250g (400-450m/435-500y) 8ply (DK) yarn
  • 4.50mm (US # 7) needles
